Make a GST invoice in about a minute

Fill in the details and watch the invoice build itself. The tax split follows the place of supply on its own, the total is written out in words, and the download is a clean PDF with no watermark. Nothing is uploaded — it all happens in this tab.

What you get

GST worked out for you

Pick your state and the place of supply, and the invoice charges CGST + SGST or IGST on its own — the rule, not a dropdown you have to remember. Per-item tax rates, a rate-wise summary, and a round-off line, the way accounting software does it.

A real PDF, not a screenshot

The download is drawn as text, so every figure can be selected, searched and copied straight into a payment form. It prints sharp, stays small enough to email, and carries no watermark or logo of ours.

A QR they can just scan

Add your UPI ID and the invoice carries a scannable code with the amount already filled in — no retyping a VPA, no payment for the wrong figure. It regenerates whenever the total changes, and you can upload your own merchant QR instead.

Nothing is uploaded

Your customer list, your bank details and your logo stay in the browser tab. There is no account, no server storing drafts, and no database to leak — the tool keeps working with the network switched off.

What a GST invoice has to contain

Rule 46 of the CGST Rules sets the list. Most of it is obvious; the three that catch people out are below.

A consecutive number, with no gaps

Up to sixteen characters, unique within the financial year, and unbroken. Cancelling an invoice does not free its number for reuse — you issue a credit note instead. A gap in the series is the first thing an assessment asks about, and “we deleted that one” is a longer conversation than it sounds.

The place of supply, not just the address

This is the field that decides CGST + SGST against IGST, and it is not always the buyer's registered address — for services it is often where the service was performed. Getting it wrong means the tax is paid under the wrong head, and your customer cannot claim the credit until it is corrected.

HSN or SAC on every line

Four digits below ₹5 crore turnover, six above, for B2B supplies. HSN for goods, SAC for services. It is the field most often left blank on invoices made in a word processor, and the one that makes a return fail to reconcile later.

Getting paid faster

The single change that moves the needle is putting the bank details and a due date on the invoice itself. An invoice that makes the payer look something up gets set aside, and an invoice with no due date is quietly treated as due whenever it is convenient. Adding a UPI QR goes one better: it removes the retyping step entirely, which is where wrong-amount payments come from. All three take a minute here and all three are on the form above.

Questions

Is this really free?
Yes — no sign-up, no watermark on the PDF, and no cap on how many invoices you make. It runs entirely in your browser, so there is no per-invoice cost for us to pass on to you.
When do I charge CGST + SGST, and when IGST?
It depends on where the supply happens, not on what you would prefer. If the place of supply is in your own state it is an intra-state supply and you split the tax into CGST and SGST; if it is in another state it is inter-state and the whole amount is IGST. Set your state and the customer's and the tool applies the right one — you can still override it if you have an unusual case like an SEZ supply.
What has to appear on a GST tax invoice?
A serially numbered invoice number and date, your name, address and GSTIN, the customer's name and address (and their GSTIN if they are registered), the place of supply, HSN or SAC codes, the taxable value, the rate and amount of tax split by type, and a signature. This tool prompts for all of them and prints only the ones you have filled in.
Do I need HSN or SAC codes?
Almost certainly. Since 2021 the requirement scales with turnover — four digits under ₹5 crore for B2B supplies and six digits above it — so most registered businesses need them on every line. HSN is for goods, SAC for services. Leave it blank only if you are not registered under GST at all.
Can I use this if I'm not GST registered?
Yes. Leave the GSTIN blank and set the tax treatment to 'No tax'. The document then prints as INVOICE rather than TAX INVOICE, which is the correct heading for an unregistered supplier — issuing something labelled a tax invoice while collecting no tax is the thing to avoid.
How does the UPI QR code work?
Enter your UPI ID and the invoice prints a QR that encodes your VPA, your business name and the exact invoice total. The payer scans it with any UPI app and the amount is already filled in, so there is nothing to retype and nothing to mistype. It is rebuilt every time the total changes, so it can never carry a stale figure. If you already have a merchant QR from Paytm, PhonePe, GPay or your bank, upload that image instead and the invoice uses it.
Is there a limit on what can be paid by UPI?
Most apps cap a single transaction at around ₹1,00,000, and banks set their own limits on top of that. The tool warns you when an invoice is above that line — the QR still prints, but keep the bank details filled in so a payer who cannot use UPI has another route. UPI is rupees-only, so the QR does not appear on invoices in other currencies.
Where is my data stored?
In your own browser, and nowhere else. The draft is kept in local storage so a refresh doesn't lose your work, which also means it stays on that one device and in that one browser. Clearing site data or using a private window will clear it.
Why does the PDF say INR instead of ₹?
The fonts built into the PDF format don't include the rupee sign, so drawing it would leave a blank or a wrong character next to every figure. Printing the currency code avoids that, and 'INR 1,180.00' is unambiguous on an invoice that might cross a border. The on-screen preview and the Word download both use ₹.
Can I edit the invoice after downloading it?
Download it as Word rather than PDF and it opens fully editable in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs. Or leave the tab open — the draft is saved as you type, so you can come back and change a line and export again.
What is the round-off line for?
GST amounts rarely land on a whole rupee, so most invoices round the payable to the nearest one and show the few paise of adjustment as its own line. It keeps the total payable a clean figure while still adding up. Turn it off if your accounting system expects the exact amount.
How should I number my invoices?
Consecutively, within a series, without gaps, restarting at the beginning of each financial year — that is what the rules require, and a missing number is the kind of thing that turns a routine assessment into a longer one. A simple prefix and a counter, like FM/25-26/001, is enough.

This tool produces invoices; it is not tax advice. GST rules change, and edge cases — exports, SEZ supplies, reverse charge, e-invoicing thresholds — have their own requirements. Check with your accountant if an invoice is unusual.
