- How does compressing to a target size work?
- Each page is re-rendered as a JPEG at progressively lower resolution and quality until the file fits under the size you asked for. It is lossy: real text becomes part of an image, so run OCR afterwards if you need the text back. If your file is already under the target it is returned untouched rather than padded out to match.
- Is there a watermark or a page limit?
- No watermark and no paywall. A single upload can be up to 25 MB and 300 pages, which is a limit on the server's memory rather than a nudge toward a paid plan.
- Are my files stored anywhere?
- No. Every operation runs in memory and the result streams straight back to your browser. Nothing is written to disk and nothing is kept after the response is sent.
- Why do I need an account?
- The conversions run on a server we pay for, and an open endpoint would be free compute for anyone who found it. Signing in is what tells us a request came from a person rather than a scraper.
